Sarah Hwang, AMFT
Registered Associate MFT #157845 / working under supervision
I am an Asian American marriage and family therapy associate #157845 practicing under the supervision of Hanna Byeon, LMFT (#126398). Trained in Phase 2 Brainspotting, certified in Level 2 Restoration Therapy, and a certified Prepare-Enrich practitioner, I bring a relational, compassionate, and culturally informed approach to both in-person and virtual work. My clinical experience includes supporting K–8 students in a school setting as well as working in private practice with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. My path to therapy began in a very different profession—as an attorney where I learned the power of listening, advocacy, and navigating complex human experiences. Over time, I felt drawn toward deeper, more personal forms of healing and connection, which led me to this work.
I am a mother of three, wife, and daughter of Korean immigrants. I understand the nuances of the identities we hold and how we shift the way we think, act, and present ourselves depending on the moment. I have a particular passion for working with women navigating the many roles we hold. The struggles of being a child of immigrants, navigating the challenges of intergenerational trauma, postpartum anxiety and depression, the difficult transition of life after children, raising young kids, investing in a marriage, and caring for aging parents can all take a toll. These life changes ripple through relationships, friendships, and our sense of self. I want to support you in rediscovering who you are, clarifying your needs and desires, and finding ways to bring yourself fully into the many orbits in which you exist.
Relationships can be both incredibly fulfilling and deeply challenging. Whether you’re navigating relationship challenges with a loved one, transitioning into life as a family with children, or facing loss and grief, I understand how transformative and emotional these seasons can be. I sit with you in the messiness where the deepest wounds often live, to uncover patterns, pain, and hope, and to open space for healing.
My work is relational at its core. I believe healing happens in connection. Whether you’re seeking support for your partnership, parenting, or personal growth, I’ll meet you with warmth, directness, and deep respect for your unique story.

My Approach
Collaborative
holistic
warm
I bring a collaborative, client-centered approach to every session. I am supportive, warm and direct in my work and tailor my approach to each client. I primarily utilize Restoration Therapy, a relational model that identifies and heals pain and unhealthy coping mechanisms, and Brainspotting, a brain-body technique that uses eye positioning to work with unprocessed trauma. I will gently challenge you to stretch and seek out new forms of coping and healing, while also leading with buffers for safe exploration inside and outside of our sessions together. My hope is that I can walk alongside as you heal and discover a more fulfilling and empowering life.
THERAPIST-CLIENT FIT IS IMPORTANT TO THE THERAPY EXPERIENCE
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to determine if we might be a good fit to work together. It takes courage to reach out for support. I consider it a privilege to journey alongside you toward your healing and wellness that empowers you to live out your most authentic life.
