Hanna Byeon, LMFT

MFC #126398

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Brainspotting practitioner, and Pre-Enrich certified and Restoration level II trained clinician, I bring over 7 years of clinical experience with children, couples, and adults who are struggling with connecting with themselves and others. I believe quality relationships are the key to well-being. I care about supporting you to not settle for unsafe and insecure relationships and instead learn to cultivate safe, secure, and deeper relationships with yourself and the people in your life. My hope is that I can provide a safe space for you to heal from your past, show up as your authentic self, and experience hope for your future.

I currently focus my clinical work with children of immigrants, couples, and adults who are experiencing transitions in their life, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, the harmful impact of family-of-origin traumas, stressors related to racial and ethnic identity, the challenges of spirituality specific to the Asian evangelical experience, and stressors related to childrearing, parenting, and marriage. I have a special interest in working with you who identify as helpers, people pleasers, and parentified kids who are used to taking on an overresponsible role in many relationships in your life, constantly giving without prioritizing your well-being, and experiencing burnout. Many of my clients are often in professions such as healthcare, social work, teaching, and spiritual leadership in ministry. I also enjoy working with parents who are struggling with childrearing, marriage, and your identity as a person apart from your work and roles in life. I am passionate about helping couples and families experience deeper emotional connection and learn to communicate your needs and wants more clearly.

As a second generation Korean American, a cis woman married with two children, Enneagram 2, ENFP, and a person of faith amongst my many identities, I collaborate with my clients to welcome all parts of their identities as a resource in our work together. Having been a client on the other side of the therapeutic relationship, I understand the nuances of immigrant family life, the tensions of navigating difficult relationships with loved ones, and balancing the many different roles we have in our lives. My hope is to offer a breath of fresh air and break free from patterns that keep you stuck.

My Approach

Transparent
directive
Authentic

I welcome you to show up as your authentic self in our work together. My approach is collaborative while also being forward and directive at times. I aim to provide a safe space for you to freely explore and process your thoughts and emotions around the current struggles you face. Therapy with me will feel structured with a clear goal, while offering room to become more aware of the messages you have internalized about who you are and how safe you feel within your relationships and the world. I incorporate the Restoration Therapy model to help provide structure to the therapeutic process, and help you clearly identify how your past experiences impact the current patterns in your life. I will work with you to identify the truths of who you are and learn practical tools to experience changed emotions. I also integrate a somatic-based therapy model called Brainspotting to help you to utilize the relationship between your body and your brain to process your experiences deeper and heal pain and trauma.

THERAPIST-CLIENT FIT IS IMPORTANT TO THE THERAPY EXPERIENCE

I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to determine if we might be a good fit to work together. It takes courage to reach out for support. I consider it a privilege to journey alongside you toward your healing and wellness that empowers you to live out your most authentic life.
